Liverpool ready to offer £150,000-a-week World class defender down to new contract

According to reports in Givemesport, Merseyside giants Liverpool will soon offer Dutch center-half Virgil van Dijk an improved contract valued £200,000-weekly in order to shut off interest from La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Netherlands international defender has been Premier League’s most outstanding performer this season in a Liverpool team which has kept 17 clean sheets in the league and conceded just 15 goals.

His leadership attribute in central defence has attracted many across the continent, however, with the La Liga rivals circling for his signature.

The Champions League holders are preparing a mass reinforcement following their catastrophic post- Ronaldo league campaign and could wave goodbye to skipper Sergio Ramos.

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana, are in the market for a central defender and sees Ajax star Matthijs de Light, 19, as a high prospect who could become a world-class player, but Virgil’s brilliant season has caught many eyes.

The Reds signed the Netherlands international defender from fellow English Premier League club Southampton, becoming the sixth footballer to join Liverpool from Southampton in the January transfer window of last year for a reported £75 million which is still the record transfer fee for a defender.

He signed a new deal which is worth about £125,000-weekly and runs out in 2023.

His new contract will increase to £200,000-weekly, equaling Liverpool’s highest-paid, Egypt international forward Mohamed Salah.

The reliable central defender has displayed no signs of the intent to leave Liverpool and said in a recent interview with BBC that he dreams of becoming a Liverpool legend.

Also, Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Isco should they opt to sell the playmaker in the summer, as per the latest reports.

He has in time past been tipped for a move to England with links to London giants Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, Liverpool’s brilliant performance against Bayern Munich during the round of 16 has earned them praise from fans. Now they will be going head to head with Porto in the next rounds of the competition. If you want to win, even more, check out the best casino bonuses at
