A letter from Brittney Griner was delivered to the White House.

In her letter, the imprisoned WNBA star pleaded with the president and said her already appreciation for Independence Day has taken on new meaning this year.

Griner wrote, "I'm horrified I might be here forever."

She has been detained in Russia for five months.

Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport.

It's disheartening how I used to celebrate this day because freedom means completely different to me this year."

Griner trial began last week.  Russia claimed she had cannabis oil in her luggage.

The U.S. has said Griner is being wrongfully detained.

In her plea, Griner urged Mr. Biden to free all U.S. captives. I request you to do all you can to bring us home."

The U.S. government persists to work using every available means to bring her back.
