Man City, Man Utd among six teams monitoring €40m-valued 18-year-old youngster

Manchester United are allegedly in a battle with Arsenal, Man City, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Monaco over a top young prospect from Portugal.

Considering the level of interest in the player and the calibre of teams allegedly involved in the pursuit, Benfica starlet Joao Felix evidently has a huge future ahead of him.

The 18-year-old has not yet played a senior match at Benfica, but he has greatly impressed with the youth side having scored five goals and created five assists in 22 matches this term.

In turn, O Jogo claims that PSG, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, AC Milan, and Monaco are all keen, with Portuguese side Benfica likely to accept a bid of over €40million.

It’s hard to argue that it would be the right decision to move on for such an inexperience starlet considering he has the chance to play constantly at youth level and begin knocking on the door for the senior team at Benfica next term.

If he were to opt to move to one of the alleged interested clubs named above, the teenager could surely start down the pecking order and that might have an adverse effect on his football development in the coming years.

Nevertheless, at only 18 years, and with the number of clubs available to him, it would possibly be hard for the youngster to snub the interest.

With the likes of Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata at Old Trafford, while Manchester City have Kevin de Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and other attackers in that respective position of the field, it’s difficult to see a switch to Manchester making  sense.
