Believe it or not, it’s been seven years since the launch of Tekken 7. After a long hiatus, Bandai Namco is finally coming to Tekken 8 in September 2022, after complimenting its trailer during Sony’s State of Play . However, what did we see and hear from Bandai Namco ahead of Tekken 8’s release?
The latter is a decent amount, even if it’s just a trailer. But this trailer shows several important improvements to the series as it transitions to current consoles.
And with major visual improvements, the series should have a big impact on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. But when will it happen? Below you can find out when Tekken 8 is expected to release and what we know about the game.
Tekken 8 does not have a PS5 or Xbox Series X version | S. or PC. Harda said in an episode of his show ‘Harada’s Bar’ that Street Fighter 6 may be in the “danger zone” when it appears near Tekken 8. So, to be ahead of EVO 2023 and away from Street Fighter 6 , we think Tekken 8 could be released between April and July 2023 though that’s just our guess.
Plus, the game won’t be coming to PS4 or Xbox One, making Street Fighter 6 one of the first exclusive next-gen fighting games to hit PS4.
Tekken 8’s story mode will pit Kazuya against Jin and focus on the father-son battle. Aside from these details, we don’t know much about Tekken 8’s story, as Bandai Namco is staying pretty quiet at this point. But we’ll hear more about the game here this week with the Tokyo Game Show.
The first trailer for Tekken 8 shows a battle between Kazuya and Jin, and showcases stunning visuals from the first Tekken game from seven years ago. We don’t know how the battles change gameplay, but Tekken 8 puts a lot of emphasis on environments, dynamic areas, and backgrounds that bring the series to life in new ways.
The trailer is from the game’s story mode, so it shows what the game will look like in the current mainstream version of the fighting game.
Harda also said in a post on the PlayStation Blog that the team will focus on the characters’ faces, skins and models, water and other particle effects, and how the characters interact with each other. In addition, Harda focuses on the aforementioned background images, featuring dynamic backgrounds such as hurricanes, severe weather, and overturned oil tankers.
